NUGA PRESIDENT
Born in 1958 ChiKezie Uche Chukwu Duru Akabusi I’m best known in the UK as Kriss Akabusi GB international athlete. Over a 10-year international career 1983-93 I became 3 x Olympic medalist, World, European and Commonwealth Champion, British Record Holder for the 400 meter hurdles.
My Business life has seen me serve 15years in her majesty’s services, being discharged from the Army Physical Training Corps with an exemplary record as a warrant office class two. I went on to have a high profile media career in the field of sports, entertainment but currently I am the Executive Director of The Akabusi Company (Business Communications Company) and The Akabusi Charitable Trust (a Non Government Organization) designed to develop the rural economy within Nigeria via Micro Finance and Cottage industries.
Playing golf was my millennium gift to my self and over the last ten years my best handicap achieved was 14, 2006/7 season. Currently I’m a backslider playing off 16 and am a member of the mighty Woburn Golf and Country Club in Bedfordshire. It is my ambition to play off single figures one day at get up there with the big boys of NUGA.

It is my honour and privilege to be trusted with the mantle of NUGA President. During my term of office it is my earnest desire with the help of our esteemed executive officers to raise the profile of NUGA within the United Kingdom and Nigeria. I do see NUGA playing competitions against other country associations, being represented on televised charity events and encouraging Nigerians (male/female young or mature) from the diaspora or from the federal republic to swell our numbers so that we can raise the standard of golf within our community.
